Rush was wrong
There’s a shock title for ya’.
Now far be it from me to be going around and correcting the big oaf. But I do apparently have the qualifications for being politically influential. According Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit in discussing the influence of Rush Limbaugh and Michael Moore have in their respective corners observed that the path to political influence is doubling up on desert. Yes, I too cast a large shadow. Not in the, “I have dozens of readers following my every word” sense. More in “The moon casts a large shadow when it eclipses the sun” sense.
But I digress.
I previously stated that I agreed with El Rushbo about wanting Obama’s economic plan to fail. Allow me to elaborate for both of us. We don’t have to want his plan to fail. It just will irregardless of what we want or don’t want.
If you have a flat tire and you try to re-inflate it by firing a shotgun through it, you’re going to fail. I’m sure somebody with an Ivy League law degree can explain how there is sufficient gas generated by the shotgun shell to re-inflate the tire. That the pellets provide an entry point for the gas so that the gas can re-inflate the tire. But those of us who lack college degrees or have lowly non-Ivy League engineering degrees and MBAs can tell you with a pretty high degree of confidence that not only will firing the shotgun at the tire not re-inflate it, but it will ruin the tire and render it unrepairable even if it was repairable before. It really doesn’t matter whether somebody prays that it succeeds or hope that it fails. It will fail.
As previously posted, if you leap into the water to courageously save a drowning man and then shove his head underwater and hold it there, you’re going to fail. I’m sure somebody with an Ivy League law degree, being too sophisticated to believe in creationism, will be able to explain that since fish with gills learned to live on land with lungs, then the man need only stay down long enough and he will grow gills. So not only is the man being saved, but he is going to be better for this transformative experience. But those of us who lack college degrees or have lowly non-Ivy League engineering degrees and MBAs can tell you with a pretty high degree of confidence that not only will the man not grow gills, but is actually going to die.
What the administration is doing will not work. Drowning the country in debt while shooting all of the producers is not how you create prosperity. There is the possibility that the US economy, having always proven to be amazingly robust, while drag itself out of the chasm in spite of Obama’s economy destroying actions. But it will be in spite, not because of the government’s malfeasance.
The other part of the elaboration is that what Obama really wants is not economic recovery. If it happens, that will be fine by him because that means he has more to confiscate, and it’s always better to be the big frog of a big pond rather than a shrunken bankrupt one. Obama is the leftist radical his opponents (like me) have always known him to be, but some of his fawning, adoring shills are just being to realize. This is Obama’s revolution. ‘Scuse me…Revolution. The Marxist philosophy is not about taking over everything in the name of The People. The Marxist philosophy is that the arrival of the Worker’s Paradise has to come through violent revolution in order to sweep away the bourgeois, kulaks and other potential counter-revolutionaries. Since Obama is already the head of the government, mass murder migtht be a bit extreme. But an economic revolution must seem like a godsend. If the NY Stock Exchange goes to zero, what’s left but the government owning everything?
I want him to fail at that goal. I don’t want him to fail because it will score political point for the opposition like the Democrats did to George Bush. I want him to fail because if he succeeds, the United States will be a socialist hellhole under a thugocratic leader cult.
